Sifen Chang creates statement jewelry art pieces for discerning collectors in the United States, Europe and Asia. Every Sifen Chang jewelry piece is a unique work of art, a one of a kind composition that quietly commands attention to the timeless qualities that define an important piece of jewelry such as the exceptional natural pearls and gemstones in memorable and elegant settings. Sifen Chang jewelry art works were the first by a living artist to be recognized by Sotheby's New York for sale in their Important Jewelry auctions. Since 2000, Sotheby's has sold more than 100 Sifen jewelry art works to collectors around the world seeking rarity, quality and provenance, more than any other living artist.

Sifen Chang jewelry art works are strikingly modern, yet grounded by the traditional disciplines of craftsmanship and unique design. Sifen Chang prefers natural pearls and cabochon cut or rounded stones such as ovals, pears or hearts, that render a softness and femininity to her designs. Colored gemstones are usually the focal point, with careful attention paid to the individual personality of each gemstone. With degrees in Geology and Gemology, Sifen Chang has a unique ability to understand and appreciate both the practical and aesthetic qualities of each gemstone she touches, enabling her to create jewelry pieces that are as comfortable to wear as they are beautiful to look at.

Sifen Chang was born in Taiwan to a prominent family long at the forefront of banking and property in China and Southeast Asia. At the age of five, she emigrated to Brazil with her family, and spent her formative years in Rio de Janeiro. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Geology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. After graduation, she was assistant curator at The Mineral and Gemstone Museum of Amsterdam Sauer in Rio de Janeiro, the greatest private collection of gemstones and minerals in Brazil. In 1992, she moved to the United States to obtain the dual qualification of Graduate Gemologist and Jewelry Designer at the Gemological Institute of America, in Santa Monica, California.

At the age of 26, Sifen Chang returned to Taiwan to become the buyer for a leading jewelry company in Taipei. In 1997, she established her studio in Taipei, creating original designs for private clients. One year later, the head of Sotheby's Taiwan, Ms. Bobbie Hu, was impressed by a Sifen Chang designed white jadeite leaf brooch worn by her client to a Sotheby's event in Taipei. She went to meet Sifen Chang in person and in 1999, the first Sifen Chang white translucent jadeite brooches were auctioned by Sotheby's Hong Kong. Prince Dmitri of Yugoslavia, Senior Vice President, Jewelry Division, Sotheby's New York, recognized the importance of Sifen Chang's work and invited her to become the first living artist to collaborate with Sotheby's New York in its Important Jewel auction sales, where discerning collectors from around the world bid for pieces by Cartier, Verdura, Tiffany, Bulgari, David Webb, Van Cleef and Arpels …. that are unique due to their design, rarity, quality, provenance and history. Sifen Chang jewelry art works have been included in nearly every Sotheby's New York auction since 2000.
